Cultivating & Cooking With Aromatic Herbs – Sunshine Community Garden Talk Series

Sunshine Community gardener Adriana Botello will continue the Sunshine Community Garden Talk Series on Saturday, March 22, at 11:00 a.m. The talk will be held by the Micah 6 Garden. Bring your own comfortable lawn chair if you like.

Adriana will present an overview of growing herbs in Central Texas, herb varieties, planting and caring for herbs, and harvesting. She will introduce cooking with aromatic herbs including the use of chilies and papalo in traditional Mexican cuisine; Italian cuisine using oregano, basil, sage, rosemary and marjoram; and seasoning Chinese dishes with soy and ginger.  Handouts will include the speaker’s outline and some of Adriana’s favorite cooking with aromatic herbal recipes.

Adriana has been a gardener at Sunshine for many years and works for Austin’s Sustainable Food Center.
