Join the Sunshine Sustainability Workgroup!

September 24, 2026

Working in a community garden is a great way to make a meaningful impact on our environment, and it’s why many of us are here. Here’s a chance to get organized, get hands-on helping our planet and to work with other Sunshine gardeners who feel the same. At the August 11th board meeting, the CGICT Board  approved the formation of the Sustainability Workgroup:

  • Authorize the formation of a Sustainability Workgroup, an open, self-organizing and self-directed group of members to make monthly progress reports to the board, to monitor, measure and report the environmental impact of the site, and to conduct research into the feasibility of a new composting program, publishing a report with recommendations by May 1, 2027.

Since then, we’ve been developing the landscaper registration and chop and drop programs, measuring and reporting on the size and condition of the leaf, wood chip and compostables piles, creating new signs for the composting area and designing the protocol for a large-scale composting feasibility study that the board funded in its September meeting.

If you are interested in being a part of this important sustainability initiative, please fill out this brief statement of interest. Thank you!
